From beautiful Homer Glen, I was sitting at my desk, listening to Debbie K and the Freedom Band sing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”. It was very moving, made me think about all our country has been through, and how we have worked through good and bad times. God Bless our Military! Since the founding of our Nation, they have been our backbone. They are like Michael the Arch Angel and his legions of angels standing firmly for GOOD. Preserving and protecting the People, and Constitution of the United States of America from enemies both foreign and domestic is their Oath. They are the reason we speak English instead of German or some other language. They are the reason I have the ability to write this and you can read it. They truly are our protectors and have always accomplished that mission. We in the United States are a free people. I wrote the following in 1968, and find it appropriate today.
From Beautiful Homer Glen, I have been trying for over 2 hours to find the total amount of foreign aid we will be paying to countries this year. I can’t find the actual dollar amount, but after reading numerous articles, my guess is APX. 1% of the budget. I am thinking of these payments going from our bankrupt country to countries that aren’t even on our side. My taxes in Homer Glen are high enough. The State of Illinois loves the money tree growing in the citizen’s backyard. The Federal Government just spends on everything even if it is Unconstitutional. I am sick of paying the fruits of my labor to corrupt, bloated, wasteful, governments. This includes all countries getting foreign aid, Illinois, and the U.S. Federal Government.
From Beautiful Homer Glen I am reading a letter that hits home since in 2010, I wrote a resolution that was passed by our Township Board saying we in Homer Township want current immigration law enforced, and that English is the official language of our Township. http://www.examiner.com/will-county-libertarian-in-chicago/homer-township-votes-yes-to-rule-of-law-concerning-immigration Congressman Walsh a true patriot, begins his letter to President Obama, saying he heard president Obama is a deep thinker and a serious man wanting to raise the level of debate about immigration reform. Joe Walsh makes it clear that Obama’s idea to build a moat on the entire Southern Border filling it with alligators may be a good idea, but points out Obama’s total disregard for the seriousness of the lack of protection on our border. http://www.examiner.com/will-county-libertarian-in-chicago/break-the-law-and-some-congress-want-give-a-reward
From Beautiful Homer Glen, I have been getting numerous requests to help find college Grads employment. I am honest and tell them I will try but jobs are tough to find. On Thursday’s cover of the New York Times, Catherine Rampell wrote an article entitled ‘Many With New College Degree Find the Job Market Humbling’. According to the New York Times article, only 56% of college graduates in 2010 were able to get a job by this spring, compared to 90% of the graduates in years 2006 and 2007. Only half of those finding a job, found a job where their degree was required. The median starting salary for college graduates last year was $27,000, down 10% from the $30,000 starting income in years 2006 to 2008. I need to ask the question of what value a degree in a non- professional academic area will serve as a path to future wealth? Some People would be better to go for entry level jobs, earn money, gain experience, and show a positive work history, as opposed to spending Thousands of dollars for College and starting where they could have started without their College education. http://www.examiner.com/will-county-libertarian-in-chicago/college-an-economic-sinkhole
From Beautiful Homer Glen, I figured I would let everyone know that just because an elected official is not up for election, good work needs to be complimented. Making information about who has a FOID public is not a good thing. Many people in Homer Glen as well as in the State of Illinois have a FOID card. I don’t think this should be made public. I feel strongly that even having to get a registration violates 2nd amendment rights. Newspapers don’t need a registration to print the news, and no one is asking for one. When it comes to guns and Illinois, we are so used to the elected officials wanting to take our rights away, nothing is even said about being forced to registrar that you own a gun. Bad people will get and use guns. Laws don’t mean anything to them. Our elected officials in their wisdom create laws concerning the 2nd amendment that only work with good citizens. How many shootings are in the liberal cities where guns are strictly controlled?
Bill Brady Sponsored Legislation to Protect Privacy of FOID Card Holders. The Senate Executive Committee today unanimously approved legislation co-sponsored by Senator Bill Brady to ensure that personal information about individuals who hold a Firearm Owners Identification Card is safeguarded and not disclosed except as necessary in a criminal investigation. The legislation, House Bill 3500, was prompted by a ruling from Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan that the Illinois State Police, which has maintained the confidentiality of information in its FOID Card database, should release the information. Brady said he expects a final vote in the Senate within the next week as the General Assembly works to complete its spring session. It passed the House 98-12 in April.
It is good to see some elected officials standing up for the Constitution, which is still the supreme law of the land. We need to have more of those we elect do the same.

From Beautiful Homer Glen, I see a spending problem, as well as a Tax increase coming from our local Junior College JJC. I believe we need to spend tax dollars wisely, and not take more than is absolutely necessary. Brad Baber ran and lost the election to the Joliet Junior College school Board. He has not gone away and continues to attend the meetings. Brad explained what is going on and it is not good for the taxpayers.
The administration and many members of the JJC board still want to move forward on a $43M expansion plan of the City Center Campus. The taxpayers of the JJC district need to know that no significant studies were done to justify this level of expansion. No evidence has been provided as to whether past graduates have found good jobs in the district. No one knows whether good jobs would exist in the district for the additional graduates that would result from such a large expansion of the culinary and hospitality programs. We do know that the food and hospitality fields are among the lowest paying in Will County.
My name is Steve Balich, Candidate for Will County Board. Over the next few months I will be posting
articles here about my self and my candidacy. Please check back often as I will be updating my website regularly.
