Beyond the kickbacks and pressure from the powerful and well-funded medical lobby, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other special interests, there’s a crucial reason why Congress won’t repeal Obamacare. It’s because Congress is not affected by it in the least.
After the (un)Affordable Care Act was passed, Congress realized it had lost its gravy train of subsidized health insurance. This made congressweasels and their staffs unhappy. So some administrative hocus pocus was employed to create a new subsidy.
Congress was named a small business that employs fewer than 50 people. It is not a small business by any definition, and it employs far more than 50 people, but the administrative mumbo jumbo created an exemption which allowed the employer (government) to subsidize its employees’ (congressweasels and their staffs) health insurance and purchase it off the business exchange rather than the individual exchange.
Obamacare’s rising premiums and deductibles and fewer options and lesser care are killing the middle class. But it’s having no effect on congressweasels, who care far more about lining their own pockets through massive subsidies to insurance companies than worrying that Obamacare is bankrupting their constituents.
But it gets worse. Congressweasels don’t have to go through the effort you do to find a doctor that is taking patients and accepts the insurance you have. They get premium care through their own secretive and private Office of the Attending Physician (OAP), an elaborate medical clinic where Navy doctors triage medical emergencies and provide basic health care for lawmakers who pay an annual fee of just over $600.
The OPA was budgeted $3.6 million in 2016, which covers the “free” care they get all year after paying the nominal fee, which is far less than most people are now paying for a monthly Obamacare premium.
The OPA is served by the oldest community pharmacy in Washington, D.C., which has operated continuously since 1876. The pharmacy provides as many 100 prescriptions a day to the OAP to treat members’ ailments. But the owning pharmacist assures us congressweasels get no special perks – beyond hand-deliveries – and their insurance is charged the same fee for prescriptions as other customers.
Among the pharmaceuticals sent to the OAP for congressweasels are medications to treat Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes. That’s not surprising given that the average age of a congressweasel in the House is 57 and in the Senate it’s 61, with several in the late 70s and 80s. And Insane John McCain, who regularly advocates for wars around the globe and cast a deciding “no” on the last phony Obamacare “repeal” effort, is taking drugs for brain cancer.
This serves as further proof of something I have written many times; that congressweasels – and their staffs and the federal judges and even the president and his cabinet — are all employees of government. That’s where their paychecks come from, and that’s why they rarely if ever legislate or rule against government. And it’s why Obamacare won’t be repealed unless it’s replaced with another scheme equally or even more nefarious.
Update: If anyone doubts that Obamacare is massive wealth transfer from the middle class people to Big Insurance, this information puts those doubts to bed. Profits to the six largest insurers are up 29 percent over the same quarter last year. Why? Government payments. From CNBC:
The Medicaid and Medicare markets are increasingly driving insurer topline growth, and that is where the plans are setting their sights on expansion. Aetna now derives more than half of its revenue from government plans, and after abandoning its merger deal with Humana, the insurer is focused on growing its Medicare Advantage market share on its own in 2018 and 2019.
“The general trend is growing the portion of health care claims that are directly or indirectly paid by the federal government,” said health care ratings analyst Deep Banerjee, a director at S&P Global Ratings.
We are on a fast track to seeing all health insurance run by government through a few crony insurers, which is fascism. It’s also what I told readers would happen years ago. –BL

From Mommyn Underground October 2017

Liberal Democrats are determined to use their political power to force through legislation all in the name of “tolerance”, even if it could cost someone their life.
But their latest stunt is so outrageous, they have literally endangered the lives of innocent people, all in the name of “tolerance”, and they don’t seem to care.
In fact, they have just allowed people infected with HIV to have the power to knowingly spread HIV, and not be punished for it.
In California, the former law stated if a person who had HIV knowingly exposed their partner to HIV, without informing their partner they were infected, it would be classified as a felony.
And rightfully so, as people still die from this disease.
But California Democrats were determined to lessen the charge, claiming the law was “archaic”, and discriminatory.
And now, HIV positive people can knowingly sleep around and pass on HIV, and the crime has been docked to a simple misdemeanor.
This means a person can knowingly expose another to HIV, and not suffer any major consequences.
The Daily Wire reported:
“Today California took a major step toward treating HIV as a public health issue, instead of treating people living with HIV as criminals,” said Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener. “HIV should be treated like all other serious infectious diseases, and that’s what SB 239 does.”
Although people still die from AIDS, exposing people to HIV without their knowledge or consent was justified because “modern medicine allows those with HIV to live longer lives and nearly eliminates the possibility of transmission,” per Weiner and Democratic Assemblyman Todd Gloria.”
Liberals roll their eyes at the fact people are knowingly infecting people with HIV.
But they are.
There are people who actually go out into the world, with the sick intent to spread HIV to as many people as possible.
Breitbart reported:
“In 2011, a 51-year-old HIV-positive man who said he had intentionally infected “thousands” of partners turned himself into Michigan police.
“He hits drifters,” testified one of David Dean Smith’s alleged female victims. “He hits people who are young. He hits young women, and from what I understand, he hits men, too. Those are his targets.”
A detective investigating the case said that Smith “intentionally attempted to spread the disease to kill people.”
And thanks to California politicians, these individuals now have the backing of the law.
Sound insane?
It gets worse.
Here’s the part that’s even more dangerous — even if one does not live a sexually active lifestyle, they are still in danger.
This radical piece of legislation even expands to individuals donating blood.
Yes, a person who knows they are HIV positive can donate blood, and only face a misdemeanor instead of a felony.
Liberals often live a lifestyle that makes conservatives cringe.
From advocating the LGBT lifestyle to promoting pro-choice legislation.
And now with their latest stunt, they are practically encouraging HIV positive people to be secretive and spread the disease even further.
While liberal groups like Planned Parenthood cheer on the legislation, innocent Americans are forced to suffer, all in the name of faux “tolerance.”

The Heritage Foundation added another round of cases this week to its ever-growing Voter Fraud Database.
Accounting for these new additions, the database now documents 1,088 proven instances of election fraud, including 949 cases that have resulted in criminal convictions, 48 that have ended in civil penalties, and 75 that have seen defendants enter diversion programs.
Americans should be alarmed, not only because Heritage has compiled so many examples of fraud—impacting nearly every state and elections for all levels of government—but because this figure is likely just the tip of the iceberg.
The Heritage database is not a comprehensive tally of election fraud. That figure would almost certainly be substantially larger.
Americans need an alternative to the mainstream media. But this can’t be done alone. Find out more >>
Most states, after all, lack the robust procedures needed to detect fraud when it occurs. Even when fraud is detected, prosecutors often opt not to pursue cases because their priorities lie elsewhere.
Put simply, American elections are vulnerable and fraudsters know it. Not content to leave their ideological causes or their own careers up to the unpredictable will of voters, many fraudsters choose to act on this knowledge.
Here are two examples from the 2016 election, added in this week’s update:
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/reboot-illinois/these-11-illinois-countie_b_8072078.html
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2014/10/cook-county-voting-machine-miscasts-candidates-vote.html
1. Gladys Coego
Gladys Coego was a temporary worker in the Miami-Dade County Elections Department during the November election. She had been hired to open mail-in ballots, but she decided to go a step further: She deliberately altered these ballots to steer more votes toward Republican mayoral candidate Raquel Regalado.
Fortunately, Coego’s fraud did not alter the outcome of the election. She pleaded guilty to tampering with ballots and was sentenced to two years of house arrest.
2. Toni Lee Newbill
Toni Lee Newbill, a resident of Colorado, cast two ballots in the name of her deceased father, one in the 2013 general election and another in the 2016 Republican primary. She pleaded guilty and was given 18 months of probation and ordered to complete 30 hours of community service, as well as pay a $500 fine.
Consider the consequences of the actions of these two individuals. Newbill used her late father’s name to double her influence as a voter, and in the process she canceled out the lawful vote of someone else. Coego took advantage of her position to literally replace the opinions of voters with her own.
Both Coego and Newbill effectively disenfranchised their fellow voters in pursuit of their own aims.
Now, these cases join more than 1,000 others in the Heritage database, which documents all manner of fraud from vote-buying conspiracies to corrupt politicians rigging elections, to illegal voting by aliens and felons.
These cases constitute incontrovertible evidence of election fraud—which is perhaps why the Heritage database has found itself in the crosshairs of the left. After years of insisting that fraud is a myth perpetrated by vote suppressors, inconvenient contrary evidence is the last thing some want to see.
Last month, the Brennan Center for Justice released a report purporting to explain away virtually every case of fraud in the database. But the Brennan Center appears to have confused obfuscation with analysis.
Any reasonable and fair-minded reader would have difficulty concluding that its mischaracterizations and inaccuracies regarding the Heritage database were anything less than a deliberate attempt to mislead the public on the issue.
What is it that anti-election integrity activists fear?
Voter identification laws have been shown time and again not to suppress voter turnout. In fact, minority voter turnout has been shown to actually improve in many states after they adopt a voter ID law.
Claims that such laws discriminate and disenfranchise voters have been similarly debunked. Justice Department attorneys challenging voter ID laws in Texas and North Carolina could locate nobody who was unable to vote on account of these laws.
At the same time, evidence continues to mount that serious vulnerabilities in our election system are permitting noncitizens to illegally register and cast ballots in American elections. The Heritage database also documents many cases where convicted felons have illegally voted.
Asking for proof of identification at the ballot box—a precaution deemed necessary when buying alcohol or boarding an airplane—hardly seems inappropriate.
Nor does it seem outlandish for states to routinely inspect their voter rolls to detect and purge inaccurate and out-of-date registrations, a requirement under the National Voter Registration Act intended to cut down on the possibility that someone—like Newbill, for example—can vote in the name of deceased individuals, or vote twice in multiple states.
One recent report concluded with “high confidence” that 45,000 duplicate votes were cast in the 2016 election.
Somehow, innocuous measures like these seem to inflame liberal activists. In New Hampshire, for example, efforts to require voters to demonstrate they had established a domicile in the state when registering to vote prompted outrage. The New Hampshire Democratic Party accused supporters of instituting a “literacy test.”
At least one Democrat did endorse the measure, however: Secretary of State Bill Gardner, who noted that citizens deserve an electoral process they can trust. Kudos to him.
Gardner is exactly right. Election fraud is a serious issue that undermines public trust and confidence in the political process. In tight elections, even a small number of fraudulent ballots—sometimes even a single illegal vote—can swing the outcome and override the will of voters.
We, as a nation, should not willfully blind ourselves to this threat to the core of our democracy.
As The Heritage Foundation’s Voter Fraud Database proves, America has a problem, and it’s time to take the steps necessary to solve it.
