Steve Balich making a difference on taxes

My name is Steve Balich. I want to represent you on the Will County Board. I have a proven record of fighting taxes. In 2006 I answered the call by taxpayers in Homer Township City of Lockport complaining about being taxed by Homer Road District who did none of the work and City of Lockport that did all the work. After spending extensive time at the Tax Extension Department at County I understood the tax raised by Homer Road Levy was split with City of Lockport, but City of Lockport did all the work. The other Townships in City of Lockport have the same situation getting tax money for doing nothing.
After forming a committee to address the problem, we were joined by Lockport Citizens for fair Taxation Jack Jarrett, myself, and Ron De Sando met with The Homer Road Commissioner, Mike De Vivo, who promised to address the problem. We met with City of Lockport Officials, and reported back to the Homer Township Board. By 2008 we realized that implementing an equitable fix would take State changes to the process, which went nowhere.
Today Mike De Vivo is the only Township Road Commissioner within the City of Lockport that returns substantial funds above the legal split to the City of Lockport. This does not directly help the taxpayers of Homer Township City of Lockport, but does at least lessen the tax burden on everyone in City of Lockport. The other Townships within City of Lockport need to follow the example of Homer Township. The other Township Road Districts in City of Lockport are getting Tax Dollars for doing nothing.

Steve Balich for Will County Board district 7

I am motivated to be on the Will County Board to make sure fiscal conservatism is part of the newly re-districted Board. Presently I am the elected Homer Township Clerk and served 2 terms as Trustee. I have plenty of accomplishments and experience, which is available on www.electbalich.com. Most importantly I stand firm for the principals of less Government, less regulation, and taking less of your money in taxes. Business is hampered by excessive regulation, and “we the people” just can’t afford more of our wages to be taken for the various taxing bodies. The tipping point has been reached, with Chicago politics extending into Will County. They are taking over politically with the new re-districting. Try to think of a State or Federal elected official that will come from Will County. The “Spreading of wealth,” increasing taxes in Cook County caused an exodus of people and business to our conservative County. We became the target of Chicago. Chicago thinks we should pay for their failed systems, like RTA, and Chicago Public Schools. Chicago has a lawsuit against Channahon and Kankakee for stealing Chicago’s sales tax by taxing goods and services at the point of sale. http://www.examiner.com/will-county-libertarian-in-chicago/will-county-pays-for-failed-chicago-system

I am a Tea Party Conservative Republican, but find plenty of support from numerous Democrats, Libertarians, and Independent voters because they are hurt the same as everyone else by excessive regulation, increased taxes, and the assault of Chicago on Will County. I am not afraid to stand firm against any injustice imposed on us. I believe that our rights come from God, and in this economic recession/depression we need to try to maintain with what we have, and pray God helps us out of this economic disarray.
